Tech enthusiasts, if you are not aware of it yet, one of India’s most selling smartphone brand – Xiaomi, announced a split! Xiaomi and Redmi Split to become different brands

Though nothing can be said officially, as per Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the possible cause of the split is ‘focus’. As we all know, Xiaomi’s Mi band serves high-end smartphone customers while the Redmi band caters to budget specific smartphone customers. This is where the confusion started as Mi was shifting the focus of the company towards high-end devices.

What does this mean?

The new Redmi smartphones would be more robust, a better value for money, and would be available with their new logo ‘Redmi by Xiaomi’.

Following the news of Redmi splitting with Xiaomi, the brand made one more announcement – the launch of Redmi’s first independent smartphone – Redmi Not 7. Since it is first of its kind, we won’t talk much and move straight to the phone.

Talking about the phone, Redmi Note 7, succeeding Xiaomi Redmi Note 6, has already been launched in China and we can expect it very soon in India as well. That said, the Indian and the Chinese version would have some differences which we would talk about later. Now, since it’s  very first-time, Redmi has left no stones unturned. Let’s take a look.

  • The phone is Powered by 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 660 and Adreno 512 GPU for performance. Though the processor is not new but considering the pricing, we can’t complain.
  • The phone boasts a Full HD display of 6’3 inches LTPS Panel with a screen resolution of 1080×2340, protected by a Gorilla Glass 5.
  • Redmi Note 7 also has a 4000mAh battery and this time Redmi has seriously amazed us by providing Type C and support of Quick Charge 4.0.
  • Talking about the USP of the phone, as almost all of us were speculating, the camera of this device is architectured differently. The phone is equipped with a 48 Megapixel primary camera, a f/1.8 aperture,  lens of Samsung on the back coupled with the 5 Megapixel depth-sensing camera.

Talking about the queries tech industry had about the 48 MP camera and Snapdragon 660 and how Xiaomi is planning to make the combination work out since the said processor doesn’t support such high megapixels camera, Redmi Not 7 camera uses the Samsung’s Pixel technology. This technology combines 4 pixels to 1 giant pixel. However,  we still have to wait to gain a first-hand experience with the phone to say if the Samsung Pixel technology really works. Till then, lets wait for the device to launch in India. Moving on to the secondary camera, the phone comes with a 13 megapixel front camera of the phone is. There

  • Sharing our opinion on the design part, Redmi has tried its best to provide us with their best. The phone’s back  is shiny, and comes with a reflective premium glass layering rather than a metallic one.
  • The Phone is expected to be available in 3 variants of 3/32GB, 4/64GB, and 6/64GB.

Lastly, even though the cost of Redmi Not 7 in India is supposed to be pocket-friendly, nothing has been said officially and hence, we would wait for official announcements. That said, just for a gist, you can expect the price to be in between 10K INR to 16K INR. Redmi, till now, has already set sales record in China in its very first sale and hope so it will do the same in India.
